Raashan Ahmad (Crown City Rockers, US)
Raashan Ahmad has been on the grind since his first release as one of the lead MCs in the group Mission, who released the self titled album in 1999. More recently, as the front man for the live hip-hop group Crown City Rockers, who released the albums 'Earthtones' and 'The Day After Forever' which garnered both critical acclaim from press worldwide. He has toured extensively through cities, states and continents, performing in front of thousands, rocking festivals and dive bars alike while remaining intimate and sweaty with every performance. Raashan has collaborated with the some of the genres brightest and most respected artists (over 50 to date) collecting a tremendous quality discography with multiple releases in Japan, France, Australia, the U.K., and North America.
For What You’ve Lost is a heavily collaborative, musical journey sure to give his fans what they’ve been waiting for. This album is rooted in classic hip hop tradition as well as jazz, soul and funk while continuing to push musical boundaries into the future of the genre. Guest appearances ranging from the new soul heroes like Aloe Blacc (Stones Throw) and Noelle Scaggs (The Rebirth) and hip hop veterans like Gift of Gab (Blackalicious), and Count Bass D alongside new school MC’s like Rita J (All Natural) and Stro the 89th key (The Procussions) make this album both diverse and a spectrum of sound and culture. Quickly becoming one of the most sought after MC’s, this new album shows Raashan’s evolution and growth.

Paper Plane Project
Introducing the brand new debut album from Perth/Sydney production duo 'Paper Plane Project' titled 'Pacific Connection'. It features vocals from Stones Throw Records soul singer 'Aloe Blacc' (USA), as well as Raashan Ahmad, singer Noelle Scaggs from the group 'The Rebirth' (USA) and percussion from Thiago Gim (Brazil), son of the legendary drummer 'Mamao' from Braziilian Jazz-funk group 'Azymuth'. The album is a blend of hip hop, soul, jazz, funk, disco and brazilian beats that fits perfectly with a summer block-party vibe.
The guys released their first EP 'Let It Bang' in 2008 digitally and on vinyl through local Perth label 'Cardboard City Records'. After this they spent a year in the U.S. as well as Brazil to collaborate with like-minded artists. Members of Def Jux Record's future funk band 'Chin Chin' were hired as session musicians, and Paper Plane Project were able to write and record live drums, bass, guitar and full horn sections in their small studio apartment in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. This gives the new album a more live and organic feel, while still maintaining a sequenced beat-driven hip hop aesthetic.

Astronomy Class Sound System (Elefant Traks)
Astronomy Class is a trio made up of producers Chasm, Sir Robbo and vocalist Ozi Batla. Their 2006 debut Exit Strategy announced a refreshingly reggae influenced hip hop sound, building on the diverse musical backgrounds of the trio. Two singles received lengthy airplay on triple j, A Bright Tomorrow and Done the Sums, while two impressive national tours consolidated their presence in the Australian music scene. Sir Robbo is the heart of the crate-diggin’ side of the group: a collector for 25 years and also a drummer for reggae, dub and hip hop groups such as The Latenotes (1987-91); Herman Jasper Situation (91-93) and Atomic Hifi (94-96). He co-founded legendary Sydney event Frigid (96-07) and formed Tooth, the last of whose albums dropped in 2006. Chasm, formerly an indie guitarist with Ukiyo-e, is now one of the leading hip hop producers in Australia, signed to Obese Records for the solo album (Beyond The Beat Tape), an EP and a stack of production credits (Dialectrix, Skryptcha) and remixes to his name. Ozi Batla is one of the most revered MCs in Australia, with years of experience on stage, taking in solo gigs; numerous band tours; MC battle championships; festivals; you name it – the man is equipped for life on the road. His other band The Herd is a pioneering new skool hip hop act, four albums deep selling tens of thousands of albums as well as sold-out concerts nation-wide for years. In 2009, the International Year of Astronomy, Astronomy Class released their second album, Pursuit of Happiness, moving deeper into hip hop territory, though seen through the resinous lens of a passion for reggae.
